A man from Altoona, Pennsylvania has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possessing and distributing images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Jonathan Hunt, 44, entered his guilty plea on October 21, 2025 before United States District Judge Stephanie L. Haines.

The court was informed that Hunt distributed images involving minors on February 16, 2021 using materials that crossed state or national borders. On October 19, 2021, he was also found in possession of similar material involving prepubescent minors.

Assistant United States Attorney Maureen Sheehan-Balchon prosecuted the case. First Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti acknowledged the role of Homeland Security Investigations in the case. “First Assistant United States Attorney Rivetti commended Homeland Security Investigations for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Hunt.”

Hunt’s sentence includes 108 months in prison followed by ten years of supervised release.

This prosecution falls under Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative launched in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project brings together federal, state and local resources to find and prosecute individuals who exploit children and to help victims.
