A resident of Ambridge, Pennsylvania, Maurice Mosely Jr., 44, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking and firearms violations. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Robert J. Colville and will be followed by eight years of federal supervised release, according to Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

Mosely’s activities were investigated by federal, state, and local law enforcement under the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program in Beaver County. The investigation revealed that Mosely distributed controlled substances from his residence in Ambridge and his girlfriend’s residence in Aliquippa.

On July 21, 2021, search warrants executed at both locations led to the seizure of a loaded stolen handgun from Mosely’s kitchen and ammunition from his master bedroom and garage. Mosely had prior felony drug trafficking convictions, making it illegal for him to possess firearms or ammunition. During the search of his girlfriend’s residence, authorities seized crack cocaine, methamphetamine, cocaine, digital scales, an owe sheet, and approximately $4,000 in cash.

In August 2021, Mosely was stopped in New Brighton where officers noticed signs of impairment. A search revealed crack cocaine and bulk U.S. currency. In September 2021, following a fight outside a bar in Beaver Falls captured on surveillance footage, law enforcement recovered a loaded handgun that Mosely had thrown behind a cigarette machine before fleeing the scene.

Judge Colville highlighted the seriousness of Mosely’s offenses and the threat he poses to the community during sentencing.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brendan J. McKenna. Acting United States Attorney Rivetti praised the efforts of the Pennsylvania State Police, New Brighton Area Police Department, Beaver Falls Police Department, and Drug Enforcement Administration for their roles in securing this conviction.
