A federal grand jury has indicted Victor Charles Gibson, a 79-year-old citizen of the Bahamas, on charges of passport fraud and making a false claim to United States citizenship. The indictment was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
According to United States Attorney Brian D. Miller, Gibson is accused of knowingly making a false statement in an application for a U.S. passport and representing himself as a U.S. citizen on or about March 29, 2025, in Carbon County, Pennsylvania.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of State and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tatum Wilson.
“This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).”
If convicted, Gibson faces up to thirteen years in prison, supervised release after imprisonment, and a fine under federal law. Sentencing will be determined by a judge who will consider relevant statutes and guidelines.
Authorities emphasized that indictments are only allegations at this stage; all individuals charged are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
