Ramsee Munoz, a 35-year-old resident of Reading, Pennsylvania, was indicted by a federal grand jury on Mar. 11 for allegedly possessing contraband while incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institute Schuylkill.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania said the indictment charges Munoz with one count of possessing a weapon inside the prison. The alleged incident took place on September 18, 2025, in Schuylkill County and involved a metal object measuring six and one-third inches that was sharpened on both sides, with one side serrated.
United States Attorney Brian D. Miller said the case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney James M. Buchanan is prosecuting the case.
If convicted, Munoz faces a maximum penalty under federal law of five years in prison, supervised release after imprisonment, and a fine. Sentencing would be determined by a judge who will consider federal sentencing statutes and guidelines.
Officials emphasized that indictments are only allegations and that all individuals charged are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
