Robert Matthew Newman has taken legal action against a prominent retail entity, citing negligence and premises liability. The complaint was filed in the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County on January 23, 2026, targeting The Giant Company LLC as the primary defendant. Newman alleges that a hazardous condition at one of the company’s stores led to significant personal injuries.

According to the complaint, Robert Matthew Newman was shopping at a Giant store located at 300 E Baltimore Avenue in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, on May 12, 2025. During his visit, he slipped on a puddle of water that had accumulated on the floor, resulting in severe injuries including a dislocated left knee patella and other related ailments. The lawsuit claims that The Giant Company LLC failed in its duty to maintain safe premises for customers like Newman. “The defendants allowed the premises to be kept in a dangerous condition,” states the complaint, emphasizing the absence of proper safety warnings and timely repairs.

Newman’s legal team argues that The Giant Company LLC’s negligence extends beyond just allowing hazardous conditions to persist. They assert that the company did not conduct adequate inspections or provide necessary warnings about potential dangers within their store. As a result of these alleged oversights, Newman has endured physical pain and mental anguish and has been forced to seek ongoing medical treatment. Furthermore, he claims this incident has impacted his ability to work and enjoy life as he did prior to the accident.

The lawsuit seeks judgment against The Giant Company LLC for an amount exceeding $50,000. This sum is intended to cover Newman’s medical expenses, lost wages due to his inability to work post-accident, and compensation for his pain and suffering. Additionally, John Doe(s) 1-5 are named as fictitious defendants who may also bear responsibility for Newman’s injuries due to their roles in operating or managing the premises.

Representing Robert Matthew Newman is attorney Devorah Peretz from Swartz Culleton Ferris Trial Lawyers based in Newtown, Pennsylvania. The case has been filed under Case ID NO., with proceedings set before the Delaware County Court where a jury trial has been demanded.
