East Conemaugh man sentenced for meth trafficking and firearm possession

A resident of East Conemaugh, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 11.5 years in federal prison for methamphetamine trafficking and unlawful possession of a firearm. Kari Ameen Wheeler, aged 38, received the sentence from United States District Judge Stephanie L. Haines. The sentence also includes five years of supervised release.

According to court information, on August 21, 2024, Wheeler distributed and possessed with intent to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine in the Western District of Pennsylvania. Additionally, on August 23, 2024, he was found in possession of two firearms and ammunition despite being a convicted felon. Federal law prohibits felons from possessing firearms or ammunition.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Arnold P. Bernard Jr., representing the government. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti praised the efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Task Force and Cambria County Drug Task Force for their role in the investigation that led to Wheeler’s prosecution.
