Josue Franco, a 30-year-old inmate at FCI Allenwood, was indicted by a federal grand jury on March 26 for allegedly possessing contraband in prison, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
The indictment alleges that Franco had methamphetamine, which is classified as a Schedule II controlled substance, on September 10 of last year. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robin Zenzinger and was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
United States Attorney Brian D. Miller said that if convicted under federal law, Franco could face up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentencing would be determined by a judge after considering relevant federal statutes and sentencing guidelines.
Authorities emphasized that indictments are only allegations and all persons charged are presumed innocent unless and until found guilty in court.
