A federal immigration officer from Brookhaven, Pennsylvania, has been charged with bribery. Amara Dukuly, 43, an employee of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), was arrested following a criminal complaint alleging his involvement in soliciting bribes for official acts.

According to the complaint, Dukuly is accused of using his position at USCIS since approximately 2015 to demand payments from individuals. In return, he allegedly promised assistance in adjusting their immigration status, such as obtaining green cards, work authorization documents, or visas. However, it is alleged that Dukuly did not have the authority to fulfill these promises and used the money obtained for personal gain.

United States Attorney David Metcalf announced the charges and stated that this investigation is ongoing. Individuals with information about this case or other instances of government employees soliciting bribes are encouraged to contact Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Philadelphia at 1-866-347-2423.

The Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General, HSI, and the FBI are investigating the case. Assistant United States Attorney Anita Eve is prosecuting it.

It is important to note that the charges and allegations in the complaint are accusations. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
