A federal grand jury has indicted Devin Lopez-Dominguez, 25, an inmate at the Schuylkill Federal Correctional Facility in Minersville, Pennsylvania. The indictment was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania on August 13, 2025.

According to Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus, “the indictment alleges that on December 22, 2024, Lopez-Dominguez possessed a prohibited object, a sharpened aluminum weapon.”

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Lloyd is handling the prosecution.

If convicted, Lopez-Dominguez faces a maximum penalty under federal law of five years in prison, supervised release after imprisonment, and a fine. Sentencing will be determined by a judge based on federal statutes and sentencing guidelines.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office emphasized that indictments are only allegations and that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
