A federal grand jury has indicted Juawan Davis, 31, of Baltimore, Maryland, for allegedly possessing a weapon and controlled substances while incarcerated at Schuylkill Federal Correctional Facility. The indictment was issued on August 12, 2025.

Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that the indictment alleges Davis possessed a sharpened plexi-glass weapon with a tape handle, as well as THC and Buprenorphine, on November 14, 2024.

The case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). Assistant United States Attorney Sarah R. Lloyd is prosecuting.

Federal law states that possessing contraband in prison can result in up to five years of imprisonment, supervised release after imprisonment, and a fine. Sentencing is determined by a judge based on relevant statutes and federal sentencing guidelines.

“Indictments and Criminal Informations are only allegations. All persons charged are presumed to be innocent unless and until found guilty in court,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
