A former township supervisor from Columbia County, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to more than a year in prison after pleading guilty to tax evasion and bank fraud. Linda Tarlecki, 63, of Aristes, served as Conyngham Township supervisor from 2006 through 2018.

In July 2025, Tarlecki admitted in court that between 2013 and 2017 she took over $147,000 from township funds by writing duplicate payroll checks for herself and reimbursing herself for nonexistent mileage and supplies. She also failed to report this income on her taxes, causing a loss of more than $38,000 to the Internal Revenue Service.

“No matter what the source of income, all income is taxable,” said Yury Kruty, Special Agent in Charge at IRS-Criminal Investigation’s Philadelphia Field Office.

Chief United States District Judge Matthew W. Brann sentenced Tarlecki to 12 months plus one day in prison. After serving her sentence, she will be under supervised release for two years and must pay $187,427 in restitution to the United States.

The investigation was carried out by IRS Criminal Investigation with assistance from the Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania State Ethics Commission. Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey W. MacArthur prosecuted the case.
