A Guatemalan national has been sentenced to 60 days in prison and will be removed from the United States after pleading guilty to illegal reentry of a removed alien, according to Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

Domingo Gonzalez Perez, 43, received his sentence from United States District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan on August 20, 2025. The court heard that Gonzalez Perez had attempted to enter or had entered the U.S. illegally four times and had been unlawfully present in the country since at least October 2024 following a previous removal.

Gonzalez Perez was first arrested by local law enforcement on October 9, 2024, for domestic assault. While awaiting trial for this charge and with an active federal arrest warrant, he was taken into custody again by Pennsylvania State Police in Bedford County in April 2025 on charges of driving under the influence and evading arrest.

Since his April arrest, Gonzalez Perez has remained in custody. Upon completion of his federal sentence, he will be transferred to immigration authorities for removal proceedings.

Assistant United States Attorney V. Joseph Sonson prosecuted the case. Acting U.S. Attorney Rivetti recognized Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Pennsylvania State Police for their roles in the investigation.

“This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations, combat illegal immigration, and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.”
