Robert E. Confer, Jr., age 37, of Lycoming County, was indicted by a federal grand jury on drug trafficking and firearms charges, according to a March 27 announcement from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

The case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address drug distribution and illegal firearm possession in the region.

United States Attorney Brian D. Miller said that Confer is charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine on October 11, 2025. He is also accused of possessing firearms as a prohibited person and possessing firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking.

The investigation involved the FBI, Bellefonte Police Department, Lock Haven City Police Department, and the Centre County Drug Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Alisan V. Martin is prosecuting the case.

According to Miller’s office, “The maximum penalty under federal law for the most significant offense is life imprisonment and a fine.” The statement notes that sentencing will be determined by a judge after considering federal statutes and guidelines.

Officials remind that indictments are only allegations at this stage. “All persons charged by indictment are presumed to be innocent unless and until found guilty in court,” Miller said.
