Juan Ramos-Abarca, a 49-year-old Mexican citizen, has been sentenced to seven months in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States after previously being removed. The sentence was handed down on November 20, 2025, by United States District Judge Jennifer P. Wilson.
According to United States Attorney Brian D. Miller, Ramos-Abarca was indicted following his arrest for multiple driving offenses in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, in September 2021. He had been deported from the United States several times before and was convicted of illegal reentry in 2011. Last month, he pleaded guilty to illegal reentry prior to sentencing.
A detainer has been placed on Ramos-Abarca by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation proceedings.
The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), and Assistant U.S. Attorney Ravi Romel Sharma prosecuted the case.
“This case is part of Operation Take Back America,” according to the Department of Justice. The initiative aims to address illegal immigration, target cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime perpetrators by combining resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
