A federal grand jury has indicted Juan Valencia-Diaz, a 51-year-old Mexican national living in York County, Pennsylvania, on charges of illegal reentry after removal. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced the indictment, which alleges that Valencia-Diaz was previously removed from the United States in 2017 and was found in York County on or about July 19, 2025. Authorities state he did not have legal authorization to reenter the country at that time.

Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Michael Consiglio is prosecuting the case.

The announcement highlighted Take Back America (https://www.justice.gov/dag/media/1393746/dl?inline), a nationwide initiative led by the Department of Justice to address illegal immigration, disrupt cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime. The initiative coordinates resources from several DOJ programs to strengthen enforcement efforts.

If convicted, Valencia-Diaz faces up to two years in prison, supervised release after imprisonment, and a fine under federal law. Sentencing will be determined by a judge who will consider federal statutes and sentencing guidelines.

Officials emphasized that indictments are allegations only; those charged are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
