A resident of Westland, Michigan, Roy Brown, was sentenced on March 10 to three years of probation for his involvement in a cocaine trafficking organization, according to United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

Brown, 57, will serve the first 30 days of his probation under home detention. He had previously pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute cocaine between August 2023 and August 2024. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Robert J. Colville.

Court information showed that Brown participated in a drug trafficking conspiracy operating out of Detroit and New Castle, Pennsylvania. His role involved assisting with cocaine distribution activities in Detroit.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller. Rivetti commended several law enforcement agencies for their work on the investigation, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Lawrence County Drug Task Force, New Castle Police Department, Michigan State Police, Pennsylvania State Police, Mercer County Drug Task Force, United States Postal Inspection Service, Department of Homeland Security, and Douglas County (Nebraska) Sheriff’s Office.

This prosecution is part of the Homeland Security Task Force initiative established by Executive Order 14159. The initiative aims to eliminate criminal cartels and transnational criminal organizations through interagency collaboration and focuses on prosecuting crimes such as human smuggling and child trafficking.
