A federal grand jury has indicted Tyrie Rashad Dunn, also known as “Chaos,” a 37-year-old resident of Lodi, New Jersey, on charges related to the use of fire and explosive material to damage a building in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced the indictment.

According to Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus, Dunn is accused of carrying and using two Molotov cocktails on January 17, 2025, to set fire to a rental property in Pottsville during the early morning hours while five tenants were asleep inside. Several tenants reportedly had to jump from a second-story window to escape the blaze, resulting in injuries. Dunn allegedly fled the scene and was apprehended ten days later in New Jersey after a car chase and an assault on law enforcement officers. Separate criminal charges related to that incident are pending in the District of New Jersey.

The investigation was conducted by the Pottsville Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Lloyd is prosecuting the case.

The case falls under Operation Take Back America (https://www.justice.gov/dag/media/1393746/dl?inline), an initiative aimed at addressing illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime by coordinating resources from several Department of Justice programs.

If convicted on these federal charges, Dunn faces up to 30 years in prison as well as supervised release and fines. Sentencing would be determined by a judge according to federal statutes and guidelines.

“Indictments and Criminal Informations are only allegations. All persons charged are presumed to be innocent unless and until found guilty in court,” stated officials.
