A North Versailles resident, Keion Washington, has been sentenced to 121 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The sentence, announced by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti, will be followed by three years of supervised release.

The sentencing was handed down by United States District Judge Christy Criswell Wiegand. The court heard that on February 7, 2024, Washington was driving a vehicle linked to an earlier incident. When law enforcement attempted to stop the car, Washington fled both in the vehicle and on foot. Officers later discovered a stolen rifle loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition in the car.

Judge Wiegand noted that the sentence considered the severity of the offense and Washington’s criminal record, which includes two previous felony convictions for controlled substances.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys DeMarr W. Moulton and Jacqueline C. Brown. Acting United States Attorney Rivetti praised the efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Pittsburgh Bureau of Police for their roles in the investigation leading to Washington’s prosecution.
