A Philadelphia man has been indicted on charges of impersonating a federal officer and robbery affecting interstate commerce following an incident at an auto repair shop in Northeast Philadelphia. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania announced that Robert Rosado, 44, was charged in connection with a June 8, 2025, robbery.

According to the indictment, Rosado entered an auto repair shop on the 6400 block of Harbison Avenue and claimed to be a federal immigration officer. He is alleged to have forcibly restrained a female employee before taking $1,000 from the business.

If found guilty, Rosado could face up to 23 years in prison and a fine of $500,000.

The case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program designed to reduce violent crime by coordinating efforts between law enforcement agencies and community organizations. In May 2021, the Department of Justice expanded its violent crime reduction strategy by strengthening PSN’s focus on community trust, supporting violence prevention groups, prioritizing targeted enforcement, and evaluating results.

The FBI Philadelphia Violent Crimes Task Force and the Philadelphia Police Department conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Ashley N. Martin and Special Assistant United States Attorney Meghan A. Farley are prosecuting the case.

“The charges and allegations contained in the indictment are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty in court,” according to the statement from authorities.
