Nasir Warlow, a 21-year-old Philadelphia resident, pleaded guilty in federal court to carjacking and using a firearm during a violent crime. The plea was entered before United States District Court Judge Joel H. Slomsky.
The charges stem from an incident on September 3, 2024, when Warlow and two accomplices approached a man who had parked his silver 2017 Nissan Sentra on the 6700 block of Woodland Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia. According to authorities, all three were masked and dressed in black. Warlow pointed a gun at the driver and ordered him out of the vehicle while his accomplices approached from the passenger side. The group then drove away in the stolen car.
Police later found the Nissan near Cobbs Creek Parkway and Baltimore Avenue. Officers pursued the vehicle until it crashed into the front porch of a home on Horton Street, causing significant damage to both the house and car.
Warlow’s sentencing is scheduled for June 8, 2026, before Judge Slomsky.
United States Attorney David Metcalf stated: “This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. On May 26, 2021, the department launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on these core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.”
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Philadelphia Police Department investigated this case. Special Assistant United States Attorney Sandra Urban is prosecuting.
