Mujahid Davis, 24, of Philadelphia, pleaded guilty on Mar. 27 before United States District Judge Gail A. Weilheimer to charges related to several robberies and attempted robberies of armored trucks in the Philadelphia area.
The case is significant due to the violent nature of the crimes and their impact on public safety. According to United States Attorney David Metcalf, Davis admitted his involvement in two counts of Hobbs Act robbery, two counts of attempted Hobbs Act robbery, and one count of carrying, using, and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
Court documents show that Davis participated with others in robbing or attempting to rob Brinks trucks on four occasions: July 2 and July 15, 2025 (both in Philadelphia), August 12, 2025 (in Elkins Park), and October 3, 2025 (again in Philadelphia). The defendant was charged by superseding indictment in January along with Dante Shackleford, also from Philadelphia.
Davis is scheduled for sentencing on August 4. He faces a maximum possible sentence of life imprisonment and a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years. Additional penalties include five years’ supervised release and up to $1.5 million in fines.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI Philadelphia Violent Crimes Task Force together with the Philadelphia Police Department. Assistant United States Attorneys Robert Eckert and Kwambina Coker are prosecuting the case.
