A Pittsburgh resident has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly violating federal firearms laws, according to an announcement from First Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

The indictment charges Kyreik Vanstory, 26, as the sole defendant. The document alleges that on or about December 9, 2025, Vanstory, who had previously been convicted of a felony offense punishable by more than one year in prison, knowingly possessed a 9mm Glock 19 pistol. Due to his prior conviction, Vanstory is prohibited from possessing firearms.

If convicted, Vanstory faces a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence would be determined based on the seriousness of the offense and the defendant’s criminal history under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

Assistant United States Attorney R. Chase Stelzer is prosecuting the case. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the City of Duquesne Police Department.

This prosecution falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative designed to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and community organizations. In May 2021, the Department implemented a new strategy for PSN focused on building trust within communities, supporting local organizations working to prevent violence, setting targeted enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.

“An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.”
