Russellton man sentenced to ten years for transporting minor for sexual exploitation

A Russellton, Pennsylvania resident has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting a minor. Michael Rearick, 44, received the sentence from United States District Judge Robert J. Colville on November 25, 2025. After serving his prison term, Rearick will be subject to 10 years of supervised release and must pay $20,000 in restitution to his victim.

Court records show that between April 21 and April 23, 2023, Rearick transported a minor from Pennsylvania to Canada with the intent that the minor engage in criminal sexual activity.

Assistant United States Attorney Heidi M. Grogan prosecuted the case for the government.

First Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti stated: “First Assistant United States Attorney Rivetti commended Homeland Security Investigations-Pittsburgh, the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, and the West Deer Township Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Rearick.”

The case was prosecuted under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative started by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse.
