A Sharon, Pennsylvania resident has been sentenced on Mar. 27 to 30 years in federal prison for distributing fentanyl that resulted in serious bodily injury and death, according to United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.
The case concerns the dangers of illegal drug distribution and its consequences within local communities. The sentencing highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address the opioid crisis and hold individuals accountable for actions leading to overdose deaths.
Senior United States District Judge Reggie B. Walton imposed the sentence on Laven Davis, age 33. In addition to the prison term, Davis will serve three years of supervised release after his incarceration. Davis was convicted by a federal jury in October 2025 for distributing fentanyl on or about November 28, 2022, which led to the death of a 43-year-old woman from Hermitage. Information presented at trial indicated that Davis provided fentanyl to the woman despite her earlier request: “don’t ever give me any more drugs I’m done with everything.” She died early the next morning at her family’s home.
At the time he distributed the drugs, Davis was on state parole following his recent release from a state prison sentence for aggravated assault.
Assistant United States Attorneys Craig W. Haller and V. Joseph Sonson prosecuted this case. Rivetti commended several agencies—including the Mercer County District Attorney’s Office, Mercer County Coroner’s Office, Hermitage Police Department, and Federal Bureau of Investigation—for their roles in investigating and prosecuting Davis.
The outcome reflects continued collaboration among federal and local authorities aimed at combating drug-related harm in western Pennsylvania.
