A former resident of Wampum, Pennsylvania, Thomas Hyatt-Baney, has been sentenced to 17 years in federal prison for producing material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor. The sentence was announced by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.
United States District Judge Christy Criswell Wiegand imposed the sentence on August 28, 2025. After his release from prison, Hyatt-Baney will be subject to 15 years of supervised release. Restitution will be determined at a future hearing.
Court records show that on June 25, 2023, between 12:30 p.m. and 12:37 p.m., Hyatt-Baney used his phone to produce three video clips involving the sexual exploitation of a toddler. The court also found him responsible for creating another video involving the same victim and possessing hundreds of videos and images depicting child sexual abuse.
Assistant United States Attorney Carolyn J. Bloch prosecuted the case. Acting United States Attorney Rivetti recognized the work of the Pennsylvania State Police and Homeland Security Investigations in leading to Hyatt-Baney’s prosecution.
